Dr. Joe L. Clark

Best known as the baseball bat and bullhorn wielding principal of Paterson, New Jersey’s Eastside High School portrayed by Morgan Freeman in the 1989 film Lean On Me, Dr. Clark’s tenacious spirit and strict sense of discipline left behind a controversial legacy.

 

Joetta Clark Diggs

The eldest Clark sibling, Joetta earned worldwide acclaim as a four-time Olympian, 11-time USA National Champion in the 800-meter and 1,500-meter categories, and one of the most accomplished middle-distance runners in U.S. History. After retiring from professional running, Joetta established herself as a respected businesswoman, author, and motivational speaker.

J.J. Clark

While named after his father, J.J. is recognized in his own right as a world-renowned elite and collegiate Track & Field coach. J.J. has led numerous running teams to medal in international competitions, including the only team to ever sweep the Olympic Trials: his sisters Joetta and Hazel and wife Jearl. Today, J.J. serves as the Director of the Stanford Track & Field program.

Jearl Miles Clark

A five-time Olympian, American record-holder, and the wife of J.J. Clark, Jearl is known as one of the strongest sprint, middle distance combination runners in history. Jearl has been inducted into multiple Halls of Fame in acknowledgement of her incredible achievements.

Hazel Clark

The youngest Clark sibling, Hazel is a three-time Olympian and holds seven national titles. As one of the most decorated and notable collegiate Track & Field athletes, Hazel has been featured in 5 global Nike campaigns, served as a commentator, motivational speaker, and U.S. Embassy appointed Sports Envoy. Hazel has parlayed her vast experience into her current position as the Director of Sports at the Bermuda Tourism Authority.
